PwC presents its series of international assignment taxation folios. The folios contain information on the taxation of international assignees in more than 50 countries. Providing a general background with respect to the income, social security and other tax implications of cross-border transfers, these folios are a "must read" for any individual contemplating or embarking on an international assignment. In addition to the "must know" tax information, our folios explore other issues of great relevance to expatriate employees, including matters of employment and immigration law, tax and other planning opportunities, and key legislative information. International assignees need information to make crucial decisions regarding their assignments. Our folios help assignees avoid tax problems both before they arrive in their assigned country and after they return home.

RES Forum and Global Connection joint survey results published- Expat Partner Support Demand- May 2013
Ninety-one companies participated in the joint RES Forum - Global Connection collaborative survey. The results were then compared to the results of a Global Connection survey in which 588 expat partners gave their thoughts and opinions on what was important to them and their families during their assignments abroad. The results provided some very interesting insights and a few differences between what HR practitioners feel is important for trailing spouses, compared to what the spouses themselves feel is important to them and their families during their assignments abroad. However, overall, HR does seem to have the right perception of partner support needs.
One very interesting insight is that provided by expat partners and their desire to work in the host location. 53% of those who had intended to find work changed their minds after arrival. Expat partners reported that the reasons for this change were the limitations of the expat lifestyle, and changes in personal plans. HR, however, perceived that the reason for the lack of take up of paid employment by accompanying spouses was a lack of suitable jobs and work permit restrictions.
Key findings and full survey results can be found below.
